Does anyone else remember the KFC Buffets?? I remember going to the KFC buffet during high school and it was like heaven. My mom would take me there after a volleyball game or maybe a track meet and I would eat ridiculous amounts of food. Now that I think about it, I wonder if I was the reason they stopped the buffet??

Food for thought…

I think this is about the time that my love affair with their coleslaw began. It’s completely ruined me for all other coleslaw. Oh, I’ve tried other coleslaw – of course! But it just isn’t the same. So sweet and a little bit tangy – coleslaw perfection!

5 SECRETS TO GETTING DINNER ON THE TABLE...FAST!

I’ve been known to eat the entire family meal coleslaw by myself. Hands off people! No shame here. None. Now of course I can’t always make it over to KFC and making it at home is the next best thing. It’s easy too! Now I’m going to tell you the coleslaw secret: You have to let it chill for at least 2 hours. The longer the better. This stuff just gets better by the day.

This coleslaw is the perfect side dish for almost any sandwich and is amazing with pulled pork. I made this coleslaw to accompany our Spicy Pulled Pork Popper Sandwiches and it was divine!

When you first combine the ingredients you’re going to start doubting me. Don’t. It’s going to look a lot “dryer” thank KFC coleslaw at first. Let it chill and then you’ll see. Trust me.

This looks like a good basic coleslaw recipe, but there are better copycat KFC coleslaws. The veg needs to be more finely chopped which adds to “sporkable” coleslaw. Adds something to the true copycat.

I don’t usually comment on blog posts, but I made this recipe yesterday, and oh my, did it receive compliments galore!

I’ve had this recipe pinned on Pinterest for about 9 months now, and I decided to give it a whirl this 4th of July. I am a huge coleslaw snob, and this recipe has become my new favorite! It was so easy to make (especially never having made it before), and the outcome was absolutely delicious! When I brought it to my friend’s barbeque, I was sad that two other guests brought store-bought coleslaw from the deli. I subtly mentioned mine was a KFC copycat recipe and that I made it fresh today. It received so many compliments that I just had to compliment your recipe 🙂

    Hi Trish,
I was wondering, for the copycat recipe for KFC Coleslaw, could i use Miracle Whip instead of Mayonnaise?

We owned a KFC for many years….there is NO mayonnaise in it, rather Miracle Whip!!! It also does not include any buttermilk! Sorry!

This is the best homemade coleslaw recipe I have ever tried. I’ve been searching for the perfect one for so long, and the search is now over! While I don’t think it tastes exactly like KFC’s, I do love this one, and I will make it again and again. The only change I made was to use a scant 1/8 tsp of celery seed as I just don’t care for the stuff (a little goes a long way for me). Thanks for an awesome recipe!

I love this recipe! I will take coleslaw over any other side dish if it’s available. And I especially love it on fish sandwiches, with a dab of tarter sauce. It’s delicious!!

I love this coleslaw recipe but I add 1/2 tsp garlic powder and a few stalks of green onions including the white parts. I also like to marinate the onions in the sugar and vinegar before adding the rest of the ingredients. I actually make a sandwich just using the coleslaw. Better the next day. Also have added red and green chopped peppers to make it even more colorful and nutritious.
