Candy Corn Fudge

When October rolls around I immediately start thinking: candy corn! We always have a bowl of candy corn sitting out during the fall months because it’s one of our favorite treats. When I’m thinking, I try to stockpile a few bags to pull out during the year when the candy corn cravings hit…and they will.

I love this fudge recipe because not only is it super easy, it’s just so darn fun and perfect for Halloween!

I used my Small Batch 3 Minute Cranberry Pistachio Fudge recipe as a base and it worked beautifully for this recipe. That particular fudge recipe is made in a loaf pan and makes just a small amount of fudge which is great when it’s for a smaller group.

I flavored the orange and yellow layers with honey – just like actual candy corn – and for the white layer, I used clear vanilla extract to keep the white, well, white.

For coloring the fudge, I used this Wilton Gel Food Color Set for the orange and this Wilton Gel Food Color Set for the yellow (although this set would also work).

The fudge is made in layers, starting with yellow. Each layer needs to chill for a good 30 minutes before starting on the next one. After the white layer is added, the fudge needs to chill for at least another two hours to ensure the layers are perfectly set up.

Then it’s just a matter of slicing and cutting into wedges, or triangles so that the fudge actually resembles candy corn. Watch and see how easy it is!

So easy right? My boys were super excited and really loved the flavor of this easy fudge!

  • 12 oz white chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp honey - OR 1 tsp of extract of your choice lemon, orange, etc.
  • yellow food color

Orange Layer

  • 12 oz white chocolate chips

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract clear is best! OR 1 tsp of extract of your choice (lemon, orange, etc.)

Instructions

  • Line a loaf pan (I used 9x5) with foil. Make sure to leave foil hanging over two sides of the pan for easy removal. If you are using non-stick foil - you're done. If not, lightly spray the foil with cooking spray.
  • Combine white chips, heavy whipping cream, and honey in a medium-size microwave safe bowl.
  • Microwave for 30 seconds on high heat. Stir. Repeat and stir until chips are melted and smooth.
  • Add the food color and stir until color is uniform. You may need to add more food color to achieve your desired shade.
  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan and chill for at least 30 minutes.

Orange Layer

  • Microwave for 30 seconds on high heat. Stir. Repeat and stir until chips are melted and smooth.
  • Add the food color and stir until color is uniform. You may need to add more food color to achieve your desired shade.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto the chilled yellow layer and chill for at least 30 minutes.

White Layer

  • Combine white chips and heavy whipping cream in a medium-size microwave safe bowl.
  • Microwave for 30 seconds on high heat. Stir. Repeat and stir until chips are melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Spread the mixture evenly onto the chilled orange layer and chill for at least 2 hours.
  • Remove the fudge from the pan using the foil as handles. Cut fudge into slices and then into wedges or triangles so that they resemble candy corn.

I love this! I’ve made it a few times and once the layers wouldn’t stick together well, but other than that, it’s great. I really love it with at least one layer made with orange extract. I also have used the same base recipe for ‘regular’ fudge and substituted peppermint extract with peppermint powder on top (used food coloring to make the fudge pink) and it is DELICIOUS. The biggest problem I have with this is that it’s so yummy I eat too much of it. 😉

As we speak I’ve got three small batches in the fridge: peppermint, lemon/peppermint, and I’ve tried one with maple extract since it’s Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed, but I think it’s going to be just as good as the others I’ve made with the same base. I keep coming back to this recipe over and over.

Can I use Almond extract instead of Vanilla extract? I can’t find clear vanilla and want to keep it white?

Absolutely! Almond will taste really yummy! You can truly use any flavor you like that’s clear 🙂

I had trouble slicing and cutting into wedges. The layers kept coming apart. Any suggestions?

Trish is this something that could be done ahead of time and frozen to keep fresh? We are doing a children’s Halloween party and I need to do as much as possible ahead of time.

Sure wish I could find a recipe that I saw on fb. Between pop ups and ads and no search, this site isn’t easy.

I had the same problem trying to look at this site on my iPhone. The constant pop-ups and ads made it impossible. When I got home I tried on my tablet and it was better, although there were still a few.

      Nice looking recipes though.
