Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescent Rolls Recipe

These Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescent Rolls are one of my go-to recipes when I need something quick, easy, and totally delicious. There’s just something about the combination of melty Swiss cheese, savory ham, and tender chicken wrapped up in flaky crescent dough that feels like pure comfort food.

It’s one of those dishes that looks impressive, but it doesn’t take much time or effort to make. It’s the perfect easy dinner for a busy weeknight or when I’m hosting friends and want something everyone will love.

I love how versatile this recipe is, too. Sometimes, I make it for dinner with a side salad, and other times I’ll whip it up as an appetizer or snack for a party. And if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll serve it with the honey Dijon mustard sauce (recipe in the recipe card below!) It’s the perfect sweet and tangy pairing.

I roasted up a couple chicken breasts real quick but you could easily substitute Rotisserie Chicken and it would be even easier. The trick is making sure you slice the chicken thinly enough that it’s nice and flexible and rolls well.

How to Make Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescent Rolls

Get ready to indulge in these Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescent Rolls! With layers of tender chicken, savory ham, and gooey Swiss cheese all wrapped in buttery crescent dough, this recipe is a comfort food dream come true.

  1. Remove crescent rolls and pinch the seams together well. If using the crescent dough sheet, simply roll out and press flat.
  2. Sprinkle the crescent dough evenly with the Italian seasoning.
  3. Add a layer of Swiss cheese.
  4. Top the cheese with thinly sliced chicken.
  5. Finally add the ham to the top of the chicken.
  6. Roll the crescent rolls up like you would cinnamon roll. Pinch the seam to seal. Cut into 8 to 10 rolls.
  7. Transfer rolls to the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Honey Dijon Sauce (optional)

  1. Combine honey and Dijon mustard in a small bowl .
  2. Whisk together until smooth. Serve with rolls if desired.

Storage Information

Refrigerator: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply pop them in the oven or air fryer at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until warmed through and crispy. You can also microwave them for a minute or until warm, but the crust won’t be as crispy.

Freezer: These rolls also freeze well! Wrap unbaked rolls individually in plastic wrap or foil, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. They’ll stay fresh for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake in the oven. Wrap baked rolls individually in plastic wrap or foil, then place them in a freezer-safe bag or container. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake or airfry to reheat.

Make Ahead: These rolls can be assembled in advance. Place in baking dish, cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. When ready to bake, let the baking dish sit out while you preheat the oven and then bake as directed.

Can I make these rolls ahead of time?

Can I use rotisserie chicken in this recipe?

Absolutely! Rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut. Just shred or slice it and use it in place of the cooked chicken breasts for even less prep time.

What if I don’t have access to canned crescent rolls?

If you don’t have crescent rolls, you can try puff pastry or biscuit dough as an alternative. Just be sure to adjust the baking time if needed, as puff pastry may take a little bit longer to cook.

Trish’s Tips

  • Be sure to press the edges of the crescent dough together tightly to seal in all the fillings and prevent cheese from spilling out while baking.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls 1 can or use crescent dough sheet
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 chicken breasts cooked, thinly sliced
  • 8 slices deli ham

Honey Dijon Sauce (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray a pie pan or 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray OR line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Remove crescent rolls from can and lay out in a long rectangle. Pinch the seams together well. If using the crescent dough sheet, simply roll out and press flat.
    8 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls
  • Sprinkle the crescent dough evenly with the Italian seasoning.
    1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Add a layer of Swiss cheese, followed by the chicken and finally the ham.
    8 slices Swiss cheese, 2 chicken breasts, 8 slices deli ham
  • Roll the crescent rolls up like you would cinnamon roll, starting at the long edge and tucking the ingredients in as you roll. Pinch the seam to seal. Cut into 8 to 10 rolls.
  • Transfer rolls to the prepared baking dish or baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through

Honey Dijon Sauce (optional)

  • Mix honey and Dijon mustard in a small bowl and serve with rolls if desired.

    Looks so good. Only change I will make is in keeping with the “cordon bleu” theme, I will use Herbs de Provence instead of Italian seasoning. Will be good either way. BTW, love your blog!

    So yummy! I was super lazy though and added deli sliced chicken. These will be added into dinner rotation! I wish I would have take a picture of them when they came out of the oven. They looked so beautiful in the oval casserole dish!

    I’ve just read this and it sort of reminds me of the armenian rolls which I use a lot for speed. Two speedy comments buy the sliced turkey breast – oil browned is moist and more delicious – and mix the honey and mustard and ‘frost ‘ like cinnamon rollsI – these will be my hurry hurry dinners on the road.     I made these tonight. Substitute the Swiss cheese for cheddar but unfortunately the dough stayed raw. Not sure what went wrong.

      Sounds like you didn’t bake them long enough? Or maybe your pan was a little too small. There should be some space between the rolls before going into the oven. Hope that helps!
