I hope you guys aren’t tired of s’mores yet because I’ve got one more recipe that’s going to blow you away – S’mores Rice Krispies Treats Pinwheels! Not only are these treats easy on the eyes (totally impressive!), they are crazy easy to make!
Say good-bye to square rice krispies treats and hello to these fun pinwheels! I couldn’t resist making a rice krispies treat for s’mores week. BUT, I wanted to do something fun, something unexpected, and these pinwheels are just that.
Pinwheels are always appreciated and they are just as easy to make as traditional treats. There’s a couple extra steps but really, SO worth it!
I started by buttering a waxed-paper lined jelly roll pan. You really want to butter it well so that the waxed paper is easy to peel away when you’re rolling up the treats.
Next butter and marshmallows are microwaved until melted and then the cereal and graham cracker crumbs are stirred in.
Now here comes the fun part. I know we’ve already got the marshmallow component of these s’mores treats covered, but I really wanted that marshmallow flavor to pop. Soooo, I shmeared on a jar of marshmallow creme. See, that’s just how I roll.
Next comes a layer of Hershey’s bars that are gently melted and then spread over the top of the marshmallow creme layer.
Whoops. You’ve got a little bit of drool dripping onto your keyboard…I don’t judge.
So finally, we roll it all up (cinnamon roll style) and throw it in the fridge to set.
Slice and serve!
How fabulous are these? Trust me, if you want to make friends fast with a kid (or adult!), just show up with a plate of these pinwheels and you are IN – promise!

Recommendation for the slicing part?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
If it’s cold, it’s a breeze. If it hasn’t set up yet, it’s a nightmare. Make sure it is completely firm and set up before slicing. Hope that helps!
Heather Gery says
Very excited to try this. We made these as a snack during our tailgating for a Jimmy Buffet concert. However, we not only put the “6” chocolate bars on it, but we also added some Nutella to the chocolate to add a hazelnut flavor to the pinwheels!! YUMMY!!
Nikki says
These were a big hit at my work party, for adults and kids alike! I did melt the chocolate and marshmallow fluff before spreading it on instead of putting it in the oven. Turned out great!! Thanks for the recipe.
Anonymous says
They never did harden enough for me to roll up… the rise krispies got soggy…
The marshmallow creme needs to be warmed, so it spreads.
Stephanie says
If you don’t have help, this things are a SERIOUS pain in the patootie to make. But they are worth it! I’m part of a group that feeds our local minor-league hockey team after every home game. I made this once; now with every other meal the guys are like, “Hey, can Miss Stevie make those S’More things again?” They LOVE them. I send a batch or two on the road and apparently they’re getting used as collateral for the poker games!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Lol! The first time can be a bit overwhelming I know. I’m planning on making a video to help guide newbies through the process. I’m so glad they’re such a hit with the guys!
Rebekah says
How do I store these after the initial 45 minutes in the fridge? Like after I serve some do I put them back in the fridge or just leave them out in room temperature? Thanks!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Keep them in the fridge or the marshmallow will start to pool. Have a great weekend Rebekah!
Doreen Perry says
Would a pan 14 x 10 be ok?. That’s all I have here.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Sure! That will work Doreen!
RPYee says
I made these using Nutella. SOOOO easy and tasty! Mine weren’t exactly nice circles. More oval shaped because they were too soft when I cut them, but they’ll make GREAT footballs for tailgating 🙂
Briana says
Sank out of its rolled shape while setting and was a little too sickly sweet for me. Not worth the time and effort.
Martina says
Vous n’ aurez exactement aucun problème en installant un programmerie espion, car cela prend seulement
deux ou trois minutes (un conseil, testez la mise en ville sur votre coquille avant, comme cela vous saurez
certes comment jouant).
Fawn says
I chose to make this for our family Christmas dinner. Mine didn’t turn out so well. Seemed like too much butter as it never set up to be able to be rolled up. OH well. I just left it flat and we cut into squares. I will try again sometime to see if I can get it right eventually. Maybe with that strawberry one I saw at the end. Thanks for the great idea!! Tasted fabulous!!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
The base is just the standard Rice Krispies Treats recipe Fawn – I’m not sure what happened there 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it anyways though!
Elaine says
What about eliminating the rolling & just making a second pan of rice krispies treats to place on top of fluff & chocolate & then cut into squares?
Amy says
Love this idea! I’ll be trying this the next time I have an excuse to make treats! A couple thoughts to go that extra mile, what about toasting the marshmallow cream? Creme brûlée style before adding the chocolate? My other thought is substituting the rice crispies for golden grahams. They have more of that graham cracker taste that I think would go swimmingly with this recipe! I’ll let you know how it goes when I try it!
Kristen says
These were great, not to mention super quick and easy to make! What a quick treat if you have guests on the way and little time to prep. Mine was not nearly as clean and neat as yours, as far as the layers of chocolate and marshmallow being so cleanly separated, but that’s likely because I used Trader Joe’s chocolate bars, so I had to cut them then smear them a lot more since they’re thick. I’m just not a Hershey’s bar person. I bet this would be great with Cadbury bars too! Thanks for a winning recipe! Oh, I added a pinch of salt to the marshmallow, and it added just the right touch to balance all of the sweetness.
Dane's Mom says
I pinned this recipe a few days ago and just made it today – had no problem rolling them (used Pam-coated parchment paper) but the family all voted to use less fluff next time. It was a bit too sweet for them (if you can believe that!) Also, I think I’ll increase the amount of graham cracker crumbs – could barely taste them with only 3/4 cup. Oh, and I only needed to use 4 of the candy bars…which leaves 2 for me to sneak a “pip” every now and then. Love this recipe – thank you so much for sharing!!
Erin says
Mine will not peel away from the waxed paper…I followed the recipe exactly. Now I’m refrigerating to see if that helps. ..what a waste!
Francine says
These were a sticky mess….not sure I would try these again. They stuck terribly bad and went really soft when trying to roll. I dumped them into another greased jelly roll pan and will have to eat them just as a messed up S’mores roll.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Sounds like maybe you didn’t let the chocolate cool enough? And the rice krispies treats will obviously be a bit sticky – they are made with marshmallows after all – but they should peel off EASILY. Maybe you need to grease the paper more?
breanna Morse says
Can you freeze after you make them ??
Leah Christie says
These were delicious but as a beginner, by my third roll I have some hints I’d include…
1. Make sure you REALLY REALLY butter the wax paper before laying the rice krispies down. Like a SUPER Thick butter layer. Lol
2. To smash the rice mix down onto the sheet without it sticking to you…slather your hands in butter first!
3. Don’t spread the marsh crème or chocolates too close to edges. Leave maybe half inch on both long edges or it mushes out too much
4. Melt the chocolate as LITTLE as possible too. Or it’s runny and makes a big mush mess.I suggest
After you have it all spread out, probably refridg the whole thing for 15 min to let the choc set up before rolling. I made mistake of rolling too soon and chocol squished out EVERYwhere. but I live in a warmer climate too, and that added to my challenges Lol
6. Don’t roll it tight. Roll it gently, then use the way paper to “form” it round like a sushi roll.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
These tips are PERFECT Leah and I completely agree with every single one of them! Thanks for sharing!
Eileen says
Haha this is an old post, but i made these tonight for friends and they were a huge hit! Plus I have extras at home to enjoy
Chelsea says
I made these for Memorial day and they were a huge hit! I did one batch per instructions and then another with 1/2 the chocolate and 1/3 cup peanut butter. Everyone loved them all! I used parchement paper instead since i was out of wax paper and it worked great! It even helped to use a piece of paper when pushing the rice krispies down in the pan since they are super sticky. Thank you for this delicious recipe, I look forward to making them again!
Cindy says
Oh my mercy! Cannot wait to try some of these goodies! Thanks so much! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Kallee says
Can you make these the night before? Like roll them up and leave them in the fridge till the next day 16 hours or so or will they get hard? I wasn’t sure how this would turn out if made in advance
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Absolutely Kallee! You’ll want to let them come to room temperature before serving though because they will harden.
Frances says
Not Sure what Challenge Butter is??
Eliza says
“Challenge” is a brand of butter. It is excellent quality!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Agreed Eliza! I love using Challenge butter in my recipes!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
It’s a brand that I use Frances 🙂
Kelsey says
I feel compelled to comment on this because I made this recently, took it into work, and the reception was unbelievably positive. I used dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. I used parchment paper to roll it up, which worked really well, though I think the roll turned out too fat, so if I do it again I think I’m going to split it across two sheets. Anyway, these turned out to be the most popular thing I’ve ever brought in. I sent this page out to everyone I work with, but I think they’re wanting me to make them again. I’ve been getting comments for days now.
IRene B says
Where did I go wrong. I buttered my waxed paper and everything was going great UNTIL i tried to roll them the wax paper stuck and I mean stuck.. There in the fridge right now but it doesnt look so good. My mouth was watering
Improv Oven says
This looks absolutely amazing. We’re drooling for sure….
Deanna Segrave-Daly says
I need to make something for school’s talent show bake sale and I wanted something unique yet something somewhat familiar – these are PERFECT!
Mary jo says
made first time according to instructions. Second time I added a few easier ways to make these – first using Pam is better than butter – so spray wax paper or parchment paper with Pam – 2nd make sure all your ingredients are measured out and ready to mix. Then lay mixture on paper prepared for this and grab another piece of was paper or parchment with Pam and press down to spread Rice Krispies – this way it is even and you don’t get the messy sticky pulling up on a spoon or your hands. That works fantastic – 3rd heat the marshmallow cream in microwave before spreading – don’t even need 1/4 of the jar -it’ll spread nicely and I used Nutella instead of chocolate – heated also in microwave only 20 -30 seconds and spread on top of that – used less also – Wella. Done!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
LOVE all of this Mary Jo! Thanks so much for your tips!
Jayne says
Hi, want to try this but what are Graham crackers? I’m in uk
Rose Theobald says
These are so darned good and wandering if you could toast the marshmallow fluff under the broiler then put the Hershey’s bars on
Rose Theobald says
Trish you should be ashamed of yourself, these are so farmed good my hubby and I cannot keep from eating them. Wondering if it would be a good idea to put the pan under the broiler and today the marshmallow fluff them add the chocolate. What do you think?
Marie Watt says
I would really like to make these tomorrow for my grandchildren but don’t have any candy bars. Do you think I could substitute a cup or so of milk chocolate chips for the candy bars? Please let me know – thanks so much!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I think that would be fine Marie. Maybe chop them up a little bit so they melt down easier. Let me know how it turns out!
maluisa says
pues muy rico que se ve y facil ,lo que no no entendi es para que quieres el horno precalentado?????
Lindsay says
How do you keep these stored? Will keeping the roll in the fridge for longer than 45 minutes have any negative affects when cutting?
Heather says
What is the trick for spreading the marshmallows? Or do I pour it evenly and not spread? When I tried to spread it on the loose cereal it clumped.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
The cereal shouldn’t be “loose” at all Heather. You need to really smush it down in there so that it sets up firmly.
Billie says
I have made these twice within the past two weeks. I slightly modified the recipe the second time which made the recipe easier to make & slightly less expensive. Here’s what I did……I used parchment paper that I sprayed with Pam. Much easier!!! I microwaved the jar of marshmallow cream for about 15 seconds….did this three times & it was easier to get out of jar & easier to spread. Lastly, I used just two 7 oz Hershey bars which I melted in a double boiler. Very easy to spread & it covered the whole thing nicely. Let the pan rest for about 20-30 min to allow the melted chocolate to cool a bit before you roll it. Easy-Peazy and just as delicious! Thank you for this great recipe! I think it would also look pretty to drizzle a little melted chocolate on the individual slices.
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Love it! Thanks Billie!
Cindy says
Thanks for the tip!
liz n. says
Okay, I didn’t feel like making the treats jellyroll style because I was being lazy, so I made layered bars with the cereal mixture on top and on the bottom. We drizzled chocolate over the top and cut the whole thing into strips….and I have no idea how they tasted because I literally set down the plate, turned my back for two minutes, and the plate was empty when I turned back. Which means your recipe is a hit, no matter what shape the final cookie/treat/whatever takes!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
LOL! I love that you made it your own and made it EASY Liz 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
Geri says
Can these be frozen for the future?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
I think they would be just fine frozen Geri!
Fran says
could I substitute peanut butter instead of using more fluff for the filling with the chocolate…. Sounds tasty but I don’t know if it would work? What do you think?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Hmmm..I’m not sure about that Fran. I think it would work but I can’t be sure. Let me know what happens if you decide to give it a try!
Laurel says
Fran, omygosh if I did this with peanut butter, my husband would go crazy!! lol I’ve gotta try it both ways! 😀
Oh, I wonder if it would work swirling some raspberry or strawberry preserves into the marshmallow creme before putting the chocolate bars on… holy cow I gotta go to the store…
rima says
i am sorry and even if its a stupid question but just want it to be perfect like yours , you combine the marshmallows with the jar marshmallow creme and butter or what is the jar marshmallow creme for ?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Hi Rima! So it’s the butter and marshmallows that get melted together and then combined with the rice krispies. The marshmallow creme gets spread on top. Does that make sense?
rima says
yes , thank you , i read the recipe once so i missed out on the marshmallow cream and ran to the comment section for help , read it again and got it , sorry for the trouble and thank you so much for your reply .
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Oh no problem at all! Glad you got it all figure out 🙂
Laverne says
Trish, just want to be sure I have enough chocolate for this amazing looking idea. Is it 6 chocolate bars or three large chocolate bars as shown in the photo. So excited to make this!
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
You do need six Laverne – the photo is just showing half of the sheet pan. Enjoy!!
Penny says
I made these for a pot luck lunch at church. I had no trouble spreading the fluff but my chocolate bars didn’t soften much with 2 minutes (probably my old oven). We sampled the “ends” and loved them. Can’t wait to share them at lunch today! Thanks for sharing.
Kim says
I’m thinking about making this recipe tomorrow for a party.
Is marshmallow creme the same as Fluff? Not sure what else it could be at the store.
Thanks
Liza says
Just tried making these treats, as I love both S’mores and Rice Krispie Treats! I’m wondering if you’ve perfected the recipe. I found that when trying to roll them, the marshmallow and chocolate got “pushed” as a rolled and ended up having a puddle of the filling at the seam, so I couldn’t pinch it closed. Perhaps I should have let it cool more than the 10 minutes specified? Also, because it was still warm, it kind of “fell”, so when I cut it, the slices resembled a teardrop more than a pinwheel. Can you help me?
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
Definitely let it wait a bit longer if it’s runny at all. It should just be soft at the rolling stage. Also, don’t go all the way to the edge with the marshmallow and chocolate. Chilling the cylinder before slicing will keep the nice circle shape. Hope that helps!
Amy@theidearoom says
Almost to pretty to eat, almost! Pinned!
Christy says
I just made these for my hubby’s birthday. My “test tasting” 😉 was tasty, but I’m sure they are going to be so delicious tonight! Pinterest/your blog for the win!

marcie says
This is such an amazing idea, Trish! I’m very rice krispie challenged because they’re so sticky…maybe I could pull this one off? Pinning. 🙂
Trish - Mom On Timeout says
You definitely can Marcie – just make sure to butter the waxed paper good 🙂
Lynda says
Also to combat the sticky hands, if you will lighty butter a zip close bag and put it on your hand like a glove then use that to spread it out, works every time!
Jessica says
Marcie, when working with sticky marshmallows dip your hands and utensils in cold water often. It keeps them from sticking! Good luck!
Sarah says
This was a fail, the chocolate didnt melt & the cereal got mushy in the oven 🙁
RPYee says
Try using Nutella!
