Chicago-Style Hot Dogs are the perfect way to enjoy your hot dogs year-round!

Chicago-Style Hot Dogs from MomOnTimeout.com

I can’t believe that this weekend is Labor Day Weekend! Where oh where did the summer go?? This weekend is kind of special because my birthday falls on Friday so I plan on partying all weekend long 🙂  No, really. We have plans for Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday this weekend. I’ve got a fun Labor Day party planned and I can’t wait to show you my set up!

labor-day-table

Our family is about as far-off from formal as you can get but I thought it would be nice to dress our outdoor table up – just a bit 🙂  I went really simple because, after all, this is LABOR DAY. Working hard is illegal don’t ya know?

labor-day-place-setting

I went with the classic red, white, and blue theme but didn’t go all stars and stripes this year. I love the neutral tones that are set off by the navy blue and red and then of course, the crisp white of the flowers is just perfection! I can’t stand centerpieces that are so tall that you can’t see the person across from you so I kept the flowers nice and short but still full and pretty.

I really love just a single fresh flower at each place setting –  I think it really sets the tone for a fantastic meal!

For this meal I wanted to serve food that reminds us of all our favorite flavors of the summer. I’ll be serving up our favorite Hebrew National hot dogs – grilled of course! And while that grill is working it might as well be making up some grilled corn which my family just LOVES.

I’ve got blueberry lemonade to keep us nice and refreshed and I made Spiced Plum Crisps that will be served with vanilla ice cream for dessert (recipe coming soon!)  I made the crisps with plums from our own plum tree – oh man are these good!

For the hot dogs, I set up a topping station that has everything you need to create a classic Chicago-Style Hot Dog:

Chicago-Style Hot Dogs are such a fun twist on how we normally eat hot dogs – you know, with ketchup and mustard. I love all the bright bold flavors from the peppers and pickles and with fresh tomatoes from our garden – mmmm – these hot dogs are out of this world amazing! When I make hot dogs for my family they just have to be Hebrew National because they are the BEST! Made with premium cuts of 100% pure kosher beef, no artificial colors or flavors, no filler, and no by-products. Hot dogs  just don’t get any better!

We were in Chicago for the first time this summer and I had the best hot dog ever and I’m not even a hot dog fan! I didn’t realize there was celery salt on the hot dog- thanks for sharing your recipe!
