You'll want to wake up to this Bananas Foster Smoothie! Yummy banana and caramel flavors in a protein-packed smoothie - delicious! A sweet and easy breakfast recipe. | MomOnTimeout.com

School starts for us tomorrow. I’m scared. And excited. Both boys will be in school ALL day now that Bryce is in first grade. Whatever will I do with all that time???

My Bryce is an eater. He loves food and is hungry ALL.THE.TIME. Last year he would eat lunch at school, then come home for a second lunch and was ready for a snack before we walked over to pick up Reece. You feeling me?

So, as you can probably understand, it’s SUPER important that I feed both boys well in the morning, making sure to keep them full for as long as possible. This Bananas Foster Smoothie is our new favorite thing. I could drink this for breakfast, lunch and dinner and still want another for dessert.

It starts with a frozen banana. I freeze bananas A LOT. They are perfect for smoothies and shakes. I cut my bananas in half lengthwise and then in half again crosswise, essentially quartering the banana. Just pop them in the freezer overnight on a parchment line baking sheet and they’ll be ready for you in the morning. (Once frozen, you can store bananas in a freezer bag.)

5 SECRETS TO GETTING DINNER ON THE TABLE...FAST!

I use a half a banana for each serving so when I’m making it for the boys in the morning I use one full banana.

I add plain Greek yogurt for a protein-packed punch and then sweeten and flavor the smoothie with a little brown sugar, cinnamon, rum and banana extract (these are optional) and International Delight Caramel Macchiato creamer. Yum. This stuff is not just for coffee!

Everything gets blended with a little bit of milk until nice and creamy and then, if the boys are lucky, I top the smoothie with a little bit of whipped cream. Note: I always top MINE with whipped cream 🙂

Of course, if you’re not feeling like a smoothie, feel free to just pour some of that Caramel Macchiato into your morning coffee like I do and sit back and relax. Coffee house flavor on the cheap.

This will be like me sitting in my favorite restaurant and eating bananas foster. I like this more than creme brulee and that is saying a lot!

I am not the biggest banana fan, but I have a feeling I would gulp this down in negative 2 seconds!

I have got to get me some of that creamer! This looks suspiciously like dessert, not breakfast!

I love your tip about cutting the bananas before freezing. I just throw mine in. I will have to try this out on my daughter who is not overly fond of breakfast before school. I know I would love it and I bet she would too

This smoothie looks like the perfect after dinner dessert. I love the taste of caramelized bananas and the Caramel Machiatto creamer ….well that is just perfection in a glass. Pinning.

Dear Trish – these smoothies look amazing. Not a morning person, but I’d bound out of bed for one of these. Lucky boys, whipped cream or not! Nice tips for freezing bananas. An extra minute saves time and aggravation later. I throw mine in the freezer whole and wonder why everything won’t fit in my magic bullet. Sigh. Hope your boys have a great first day of school! We’ve got one more week before D-day.

Yep, school is starting up again. I’m a teacher, so that means I get to be really exhausted starting Monday!
Boys will eat you out of house and home. They just eat everything. And then they do it again an hour later.
This smoothie looks so good. I’d be sucking this down for energy!

Charlie is the same way – always eating. By the time I pick him up after football he is beyond starving, and loading him up in the morning is essential. I bet the kids would LOVE this for breakfast especially with whipped cream 🙂 hope they have a great first day of school
