Two Green Smoothie Recipes You’ll Love!

Two delicious green smoothie recipes that even your kids will love!  Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie and Berry Green Smoothie recipes are the perfect way to start your day!

Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie | MomOnTimeout.com - The peanut butter and banana mask the taste of spinach so all you end up with a delicious, healthy breakfast! #green #smoothie #breakfast #recipe

I think we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day right? Your body hasn’t consumed anything for at least 8 hours and it needs nutrition first thing in the morning. I like to keep things pretty easy for breakfast – especially during the week. Saturday and Sundays you’ll find me in the kitchen making sausage gravy and biscuits, serving up breakfast burritos, or making one of my personal favorites – Overnight Caramel Pecan Cinnamon Rolls! Monday through Friday however I’m looking for breakfast solutions that get everyone out the door and on their way with a full belly and a healthy start to their day.

Breakfast is different each day of the week at our house and one of our favorite go-to breakfasts are smoothies. Smoothies are great because my husband can take them to go in the car and Bryce and Reece will drink them while watching a show in the morning before school. My kids will drink anything if I call it a smoothie – even those smoothies that just happen to be green. Packing in 2 cups of spinach into breakfast is one of the smartest ways to start your day and my green smoothie recipes both call for Greek yogurt which packs a super-protein punch.

Pairing up these green smoothies with items that are easy to take on-the-go makes breakfast a no-brainer on my part. Two of my favorite items are Nature Valley Granola Bars {my kids LOVE these!} and more recently belVita Breakfast Biscuits {my boys think these are cookies}. We happened to be out of both so I headed over to Safeway to do some shopping while Chris took the boys over to Fairytale Town. Reece had a Super Hero Class there today and he had so much fun! I had all kinds of fun too as I picked up all kinds of breakfast items and took advantage of Safeway’s Buy 4 Save $4 and loaded up on our favorites! Nothing I like more than #BreakfastSavings!

The first smoothie I want to share is my favorite green smoothie – the Peanut Banana Green Smoothie. This recipe calls for only 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter and you won’t believe the delicious peanut butter taste that comes through! I think this is the best smoothie recipe for masking the spinach taste…if that’s what you’re trying to do 😉  I particularly enjoy this smoothie with the belVita Breakfast Biscuits aka “breakfast cookies” in my house. There is some serious nutrition packed into those four little biscuits and the boys think they’re getting a treat – a win-win for all of us!

The boys actually prefer the “Berry Green Smoothie” but they really do like both. Packed full of antioxidants from the blueberries and strawberries, it is a sweeter alternative to the Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie. I use juice in this recipe instead of milk, and if I’m feeling extra generous, about a teaspoon of honey gets thrown in making sure the boys down their smoothies with a smile on their face. The boys enjoy Nature Valley Granola Bars with the Berry Green Smoothie in the morning and I get almost giddy thinking about all the good-for-you stuff that they just ate 🙂

The combination of flavors seem interesting to try. I would be willing to make either of these. Thanks for the combination ideas.

Whoa! This blog looks just like my old one! It’s on a completely different
subject but it has pretty much the same page layout and design.

    Great choice of colors!
