As always, you can find the full printable recipe card at the end of this post.

Prepare Simple Syrup

  1. Combine granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring just to a simmer and stir until sugar has dissolved.
  3. Remove pan from heat and let cool.

You will not need all of the simple syrup. Use leftovers to make some Limeade!

  2. Blend for 3 minutes or until smooth and creamy.
  3. Serve immediately or if you plan on serving later, transfer to a shallow container and cover well.
  4. Freeze for 30 minutes to an hour and then serve.

For a creamier texture, try adding a tablespoon of heavy cream or coconut cream to the mango puree.

Storage Information

Store your mango sorbet in a shallow, freezer-safe container with a lid. Cover the top of the sorbet with parchment paper or plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn. When stored properly, mango sorbet will keep in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Variations to Try

  • Consider combining with other fruit such as pineapple or papaya.
  • For a bit of heat, add cayenne pepper or chili powder to the mango puree.
  • Add a bit of coconut cream to the mixture for a creamier texture. A couple tablespoons is plenty and adds to the tropical flavor of the mango sorbet.

Can I make this Mango Sorbet with an ice cream maker?

Yes, you can! After whisking all of the ingredients together, pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for freezing and churning. Churn the mixture until it reaches a creamy, sorbet-like consistency, then transfer it to a shallow, freezer-safe container and freeze until solid.

Can I use fresh mangoes instead of frozen?

You can but to get the best consistency, I would suggest using an ice cream maker to make the sorbet.

Making Sorbet In An Ice Cream Maker

This sorbet gets even more creamy and smooth when prepared in an ice cream maker. Here are two great options:

  • Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker – This 2 quart ice cream maker is a stand alone machine that can make sorbet, ice cream, gelato and more. It gets great reviews!
  • Kitchen Aid Attachment – If you have a kitchen aid stand mixer, they make an ice cream maker attachment that works great! Check to make sure it fits your model before buying.

Trish’s Tips

This recipe is seriously simple and comes together quickly and easily however, here are a few tips that will ensure you get terrific results with this mango sorbet recipe:

  • Make sure to puree the mangoes until they are completely smooth.
  • Use the best quality frozen mangoes you can find or, if using fresh, looking for ripe but not mushy mangoes.
  • To make the sorbet sweeter, add more simple syrup to the mixture.
  • The simple syrup needs to cool down so it’s great if you can make that component ahead of time.
