Kool Aid Pie Ingredients

This easy Kool Aid Pie recipe has just a handful of ingredients and is so easy to make! As always, you can find the full, printable recipe card at the end of this post. Let’s take a quick look at what you’ll need to make this pie:

Pie Filling

  • sweetened condensed milk: Adds sweetness to the pie filling and creates a creamy base.
  • strawberry syrup: This optional ingredient adds a hint of strawberry flavor and enhances the color of the pie filling.
  • Kool Aid powder: The star of the show, giving the pie its vibrant color and tangy taste. Use your favorite flavor! We used strawberry but strawberry lemonade would also be delicious.
  • whipped topping: Creates a light, airy texture and smooths out the filling.
  • graham cracker pie crust: This pie is all about ease of preparation and simplicity so we opted for a store bought crust but you can always make a homemade crust. See the recipe card for instructions on how to do so.

Optional Garnishes

  • whipped cream – Freshly whipped cream or whipped topping finishes this pie off beautifully but is absolutely optional.
  • strawberries – Sliced, fresh strawberries are a delicious and pretty way to garnish this pie. Other fruit would also be terrific.

An Oreo Cookie Crust would also be delicious with this pie!

How To Make Kool Aid Pie

With just 10 minutes of prep and a few hours of chilling, you’ll have a delicious treat perfect for any occasion. Top with whipped cream and fresh strawberries for an extra special touch!

Find the full, printable recipe in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Storage Information

This pie is best enjoyed the same day it is made or the day after but here is information on how to store and freeze this pie for the best results:

  • Storage: Leftover pie should be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Make in Advance: You can prepare this pie up to 2 days in advance. Just keep it covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Garnish just before serving.
  • Freezing: This Kool Aid Pie can be frozen for up to 1 month. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil before freezing. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving or enjoy as a frozen pie!

Can I use homemade whipped cream instead of a tub of whipped topping?

Yes, you can use homemade whipped cream. Just ensure it’s whipped to stiff peaks to maintain the pie’s structure and enjoy within 2 days.

Can I use a different type of crust?

Absolutely! A cookie crust, like and Oreo Crust or Nilla Wafer Crust, would also work well with this recipe.

What if I don’t have strawberry syrup?

If you don’t have strawberry syrup, you can skip it or substitute it with another flavored syrup or a tablespoon of strawberry jelly for added flavor. It helps to enhance the taste and color of the pie.

Can I make my own graham cracker crust?

Sure! Here’s how:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  1. Combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a medium-size bowl and stir with a fork until the butter is fully incorporated.
  2. Press the crumbs onto the bottom of a 9 inch pie pan to create the crust.
  3. Refrigerate crust for at least 30 minutes before filling.

Variations To Try

Any flavor of kool aid can be used in this recipe. Here are a couple of tasty variations to consider:

  • Tropical Kool Aid Pie: Use pineapple or tropical punch kool aid and garnish with pineapple or mango slices.
  • Lemon Kool Aid Pie: Use lemonade kool aid, a little lemon juice and top with fresh lemon slices and sprigs of mint.
  • Cherry Kool Aid Pie: Use cherry kool aid and top the pie with maraschino cherries or fresh cherries and sprigs of mint.

Trish’s Tips

  • Whisk the sweetened condense milk, strawberry syrup and kool aid powder together really well until the color is uniform.
  • Gently fold in the whipped topping so the pie has a light and airy texture.
  • Give the pie plenty of time to chill and set up, at least four hours, for the best texture and flavor.
