Crocheted Easter Eggs & Pattern

March 15, 2012

Crocheted Easter Eggs are so much fun and the pattern is super simple!

Crocheted_Easter_Eggs_Pattern

Most of you know that I love to crochet. I just have a hard time finding the time 🙂  This past weekend I set out to crochet some Easter eggs and developed this Crocheted Easter Egg pattern (after many futile attempts!) that makes eggs that are darn near the same size as a large egg and so fun to make! I think making this with bold and bright colors would be just beautiful too!

These Crocheted Easter Eggs are a great way to use up leftover yarn. I used some from baby blankets that I have made. You will also need some sort of filling – I used Poly-Fil.

I used an F hook and a variety of yarn. Change the colors where you wish to make your own unique Easter Egg!

Sc Dec = Single Crochet Decrease (Insert hook in first stitch, yo, pull up loop, insert hook in second stitch, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull thru remaining 3 loops on hook.)

5 SECRETS TO GETTING DINNER ON THE TABLE...FAST!

Crocheted Easter Egg Pattern:
Ch 3. Sl st to form ring.
Round 1: 5 sc in ring.
Round 1: 2 sc in each st around. (10 sc)
Round 3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) repeat 5 times. (15 sc)
Round 4: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 st) repeat 5 times. (20 sc)

Round 5: (2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 st) repeat 5 times. (25 sc)
(I usually turn the egg inside out around this point.)
Rounds 6-9:  sc in each st around (25 sc)
(Start stuffing the egg.)
Round 10:  (Sc Dec, sc in next 3 st)  repeat 5 times. (20 sc)

Round 11:  sc in each st around (20 sc)
Round 12:   (Sc Dec, sc in next 2 st)  repeat 5 times. (15 sc)
Round 13:  sc in each st around (15 sc)

Round 14:   (Sc Dec, sc in next st)  repeat 5 times. (10 sc)
(Finish stuffing egg.)
Round 15:  (Sc Dec) repeat 5 times (5 sc)
Thread yarn though remain stitches. Pull yarn through the top of the egg to finish off.

Flower Instructions:
Ch 4. Sl st to form ring.
(Ch 3, sc. to form a petal) Repeat until you have the desired number of petals. I did between 5-7.

SO cute! I am going to have to whip up a bunch of these. I can’t seem to find plastic easter eggs here in Hong Kong, so all the cute tutorials for covering those aren’t helping me decorate! Love this!!! pinning!

Very sweet. Really like all the pastel-ly colours from using yarn remnants from the baby blankets! The little flowers are the best 🙂

Thank you for the great tutorial. I re-worked your pattern a bit so that I could crochet around some plastic Easter eggs.. you can find my post about it here:

Those are neat. Did you stuff them with something? My 10 year old knits and crochets a lot. I think this would be a nice quick project for her.

This would be perfect since it’s single crochet the whole way! I stuffed mine with Poly-Fil but anything you have will work.

I have a whole crate of yarn balls. I promised I would use them all before I bought new yarn. I will be testing these out and using some of those balls now! Came via MBYM

Great eggs, and you don’t have to make new ones every year or throw out hardboiled rotton eggs. Am hunting up some yarn almost as I write this. Came to visit via Made by you Mondays…
