Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes | MomOnTimeout.com

I love slow cooker recipes. I mean how great is it to start a recipe when you’re not busy and be able to waltz on into the kitchen at dinner time and serve up a hot, home-cooked meal? Works for me! Here is my Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes recipe… Easy peasy people!

Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef (the leaner the better)
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tsp mustard
3/4 c ketchup
1/4 c bbq sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbls cider vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
hamburger buns

Directions:
Yup, you guessed it – throw everything into your slow cooker!

Let your slow cooker work it’s magic for 3-4 hours on high, or 6-8 hours on low, stirring occasionally, and voila!

If your mixture starts looking dried out at any time, just add in 1-2 Tbls water to make it juicier. If it is too juicy, leave the lid off of your slow cooker for the last half hour and let some of the liquids evaporate to thicken it up. Serve up a healthy portion on a toasted hamburger bun and dinner is served my friends!

Looks great! I’m making this for about 15 people – have you ever made this in bulk/do you know what that would do to the cook time?

    Thanks!

Don’t have cider vinegar can I just leave it out or should I replace it with something?

This sounds yummy and so easy! Could you use ground turkey instead of ground beef? Thanks, can’t wait to make it!

I’m pretty sure the “sweetness” would depend on what brand and flavor of BBQ sauce you use. Just saying. It’s not the recipe’s fault.

Also I doubt that I would use the cider vinegar because that adds a “sweet” flavor (to me) as well.
The great thing about this recipe is that you can tweak it to your taste.
Thanks for sharing! Will try soon!

Hey over here in the UK we just call that mince beef and onion gravy.. you should try it… fry your mince and onion until mince is sealed.. the add 1 pint of water, salt pepper, and bring to a simmer. add 2 oxo cubes. diced carrots and peas. cook through. add some more water depending on how you like your gravy..i use flour and water to thicken my gravy just the way i like it.. and some poured of a mountain of creamed potatoes.. yum yum.. a great family feeder..

Will continue on for search of perfect recipe. This was too sweet and included too many processed ingredients for my taste
