I don’t know what it is about the universal appeal of Rice Krispies treats – but no matter what shape and size they come in – everyone loves them! They are a breeze to make and yummy to eat…does it get any better than that??? These cute little pumpkins were a huge hit at Bryce’s party and they are sure to be at yours as well.

4 c mini marshmallows or 40 large marshmallows
6 c Rice Krispies cereal
3 Tbls butter or margarine
orange or red & yellow food coloring
12 green spice drops
green frosting for vines

In a large pan melt butter over low heat. Add in the marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted. Remove the pan from heat. Add in the orange food coloring (or red and yellow combination) until the marshmallow mixture is orange. (For me there was a definite trade-off in how orange I wanted the pumpkins to be and how much food coloring I was willing to add.)

Add in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal and stir until the cereal is coated well with the marshmallow mixture.
(I noticed immediately when the cereal was added in that the orange coloring was greatly diminished so keep that in mind.)

Butter up your hands so they don’t stick and also as protection from the heat. Using about 1/2 cup of the mixture for each pumpkin, form 12 pumpkins. (I made mine into a variety of shapes and sizes.)

Press a spice drop into the top of each pumpkin and pipe green frosting onto the pumpkins for the vines.
Such a cute treat for your Halloween or Harvest party – love ’em!
