I grew up with Orange Julius. It was a rare and special treat being that there were five of us kids and they weren’t cheap. I can still remember how incredibly refreshing and sweet this drink was. Crave-worthy for sure.

Imagine my utter delight and surprise when Chris’s dad shared his recipe for Orange Julius with me years ago. His recipe actually came from his mother and was passed down to him.

Sure, I had a few moments of jealousy when I realized that Chris was able to have an Orange Julius any time he wanted when he was growing up. And then of course total shock when I saw how EASY this recipe is.

I mean, I always have these ingredients around. Soooo awesome!

This drink is perfect for a hot summer’s day or a even a mildly warm spring day. Heck. I’m good with this any day of the year. For reals.

I double the recipe because our containers of concentrate come in 12 oz cans and because, well, we can polish off an entire pitcher of this stuff. Yep. Just the four of us. No shame either.

My mother-in-law occasionally substitutes yogurt for the milk and the boys really like it that way as well. It gives it more of a smoothie consistency and the flavor is still pretty much the same.

You really can’t go wrong either way 🙂

I’ve made this about 15 times now and it’s the only thing I use the Ninja for. DELICIOUS!! It’s the only thing I use my Ninja for. Thanks for the recipe! (NOTE: I add an additional 1/4 c of milk to make it last longer and to help tone down the sweetness)

I like the super frothiness of this drink and the real ones have egg whites. I have found the dry egg whites in a can make it fantastic. Add 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp while the blender is going, remove cap. This helps to prevent lumps.

She uses vanilla Greek yogurt and anywhere from a half a cup to a whole cup. Yes. It is good!

This is awesome! We don’t have any Orange Julius stores close here anymore… do they still exist? My husband and I both grew up with them, so I’ll be making these for sure. Going to sub my favorite coconut milk since he and I are both lactose intolerant now. The kids can have them is as 🙂

Seriously?? It’s THAT easy??? Oh my goodness Trish, this is incredible! My guy loves his OJ and anything citrus-flavored, and I’m almost 100% positive that he’d finish off the entire pitcher all by himself. No sharing with 3 other people for him! 😉 Thank goodness for this recipe; the warm Sacramento weather is quickly heading our way!
