Baby Doll Blankets {Crochet Patterns}

baby-doll-blankies-crochet-pattern

Last week I emailed my cousin to find out gift ideas for her daughter who was turning two. I asked the usual – what size is she, what is she into, any good ideas for presents?  I loved the response I got back! She wanted a
blanket for her babies! She knows that I crochet (occasionally) and thought that maybe I could whip something up. She was right! I haven’t picked up a crochet hook in months and I was eager to make some cute little baby doll blankies for my ADORABLE little cousin.

I checked my yarn inventory (if you crochet or knit, you know what I’m talking about!) and found a variegated yarn that I knew would be perfect and also some green and pink yarn that was super soft.

I’m happy to report that she loves her new baby blankies! Her mommy sent me these cute pics:

Variegated Baby Doll Blanket

I love how this blanket turned out! I really wanted to do clusters because I think it adds so much interest to the little blankie. Final blanket measured 11″ x 13″.
Ch 46
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each sc across. 45 sc
Row 2: Ch 3, skip first 2 sc, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, skip next 2 sc. Repeat from * to last 3 sc. (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, skip next sc, dc in final sc.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each dc and in each ch-1 space across. 45 sc
Row 4:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, *4-dc cl in next sc, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * to last three sc. 4-dc cl in next sc, 2 sc.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across. 45 sc
Row 6: Ch 3, skip first st, dc in each sc across. 45 dc
Row 7:  Ch 3, skip first 2 dc, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc, skip next 2 dc. Repeat from * to last 3 dc. (dc, ch 1, dc) in next dc, skip next dc, dc in final dc.
Row 8: Repeat Row 3
Row 9: Repeat Row 6
Row 10: Repeat Row 4
Repeat Rows 5-10 four times.
Row 35:  Ch 1, sc in each st across. 45 sc

5 SECRETS TO GETTING DINNER ON THE TABLE...FAST!

Edging:
Round 1: Ch 1. Work (sc, ch 2) evenly spaced around the edge of the blanket working (sc, ch 2) twice in the corners. Join with slip st in first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1. (Sc, ch 3) evenly spaced around edge working (sc, ch 3) twice in the corners. Join with slip st in first sc.

NOTES: 4-dc cl: Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, draw up loop. {Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook} 4 times. Yarn over and draw through all 5 remaining loops on hook.

Pink & Green Baby Blanket

I worked this one just like I did Bryce’s blanket. I used Simply Soft yarn. It’s all single crochets so it’s a great beginners project. Final blanket measured 8.5″ x 11″.
Ch. 43
Row 1:  2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. Skip next 2 ch. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. *3 sc in next ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch,. Skip next 2 ch. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. Repeat from * to last ch. 2 sc in last ch. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Skip next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. *3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 4 sc,. Skip next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Repeat from * to last sc. 2 sc in last ch. Turn.
Continue working Row 2 until you reach your desired size. I did {3 rows pink/green, 2 rows pink, 2 rows green} 4 times, 3 rows pink/green for a total of 31 rows.

Edging:
Work sc evenly spaced around the edge of the blanket. You can add a more decorative edging at this point if you desire.

I think these turned out really cute and of course I’m thrilled that they are being enjoyed!
