IKEA Desk Makeover

Many years ago we bought this desk at IKEA.  It fit our space and that was our single requirement.  It stuck out a few inches from the alcove but that wasn’t really a big deal to us.  After a few bumped heads on the corner of the desk the issue became one that needed a resolution.  You can see the wear that the surface was showing -  not pretty!

While finishing up our wood floors, we decided to give the desk a little makeover.  We had to take the desk out anyways and that was half the trouble.

After taking the desk apart, we used the table saw to take off a few inches.

My husband sanded it down and applied a couple coats of white paint.

I taped up the table and spray painted it with Metallic Bronze paint.  I even added a decorative corner.

Here it is looking much nicer than it did before.  A relatively easy fix for what used to by an eyesore in our family room.

I am really enjoying the look of my “new” desk.  It really fits in well in our room – especially with our new floors!
